Since 2005, TremontGardeners have come together to complete these gardening goals:

Memorial Monument Garden

• Created colorful, new gardens in the heart of our community at Lincoln Park;

• Identified ideal public spaces throughout our neighborhood for installation of beautiful pocket gardens;

• Established welcome gardens at all entry points of Tremont, known as Gateway Gardens;

• Established the Scranton Road Beautification Project, an initiative that encourages community businesses to include gardens and permanent planters as part of their storefront maintenance;

• Partnered with Court Community Service for effective neighborhood clean-ups.

• Collaborated with First Interstate, ODOT, TWDC, Cleveland Public Art, and city officials to create a signature entry point into the Tremont community, known as the 14th Street Roundabout, which includes public art as well as plant material;

• Produced wearable art, identifiable signage and an effective website.

Projects completed to date:

GATEWAY GARDENS

TremontGardeners, working with the Tremont West Development Corp. and Parkworks, have identified locations in North and South Tremont that serve as "gateways" to the neighborhood. Funding currently is being sought from
public and private sources to create gateway gardens - featuring perennial and foundation plantings, location signage and public art - to welcome visitors and residents to Tremont. These gateway gardens will be completed in 2006, 2007 and 2008. To view the proposed plan, click here.

QUIGLEY ROAD ROUNDABOUT
TremontGardeners, working with a number of partners, including First Interstate Developers, Cleveland Public Art, TWDC and ODOT, is creating a gateway at the Quigley Road Roundabout entrance to Steelyard Commons development and South Tremont. This large, signature, Roundabout Garden will include significant plantings, a large piece of public art that has been commissioned through Cleveland Public Art and lighting. Site work has begun and the garden will be completed in 2007.

SCRANTON ROAD BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT
The Scranton Road Residents group, which includes several TremontGardeners, was awarded a grant by Cleveland Connections, part of the Cleveland Foundation, to fund a beautification project along Scranton Road. The project will include pocket gardens at several public and private locations along Scranton Road, focusing on major intersections in the neighborhood. Plantings will include foundation plants such as small trees and shrubs, perennials such as roses and annuals. These gardens will be maintained by members of the Tremont Gardeners and the site owners. MetroLofts will be one of the first businesses to take part in the Scranton Road Beautification Project. Here are some proposed depictions of the area: Scranton Road & Clark Avenue, Scranton Road & Starkweather Avenue, Scranton Road and Kennilworth Avenue.

14th STREET ROUND ABOUT
TremontGardeners teamed with city and community leaders to lend a hand in planting the 14th Street Round About gardens.
