TremontGardeners started in 2005 as an offshoot of a neighborhood
beautification project conceived and executed by Tremont residents Eric
Lutzo
and Sandy Smith, with the help of Tremont West Development Corp. and Maurice Small of the Cleveland Botanical Garden's Learning Garden.

The first, "official" Tremont Gardeners event, a successful spring flower sale to raise money for plantings in Tremont's Lincoln Park, was spearheaded by Eric Lutzo and held in May 2005, with the help of Stefan Was, Jeanne Michealides, Sandy Smith and others.

Later that summer, a larger group of residents - including Dan Petricig,
Katherine Abouserhal and a group calling themselves "the Brevier Posse"
joined that core group to create and maintain gateway gardens at the
entrances to Lincoln Park.

Projects for the summer of 2006 include replanting and maintaining those
corner gardens, landscaping around the Lincoln Park gazebo, starting design work on the Quigley Road Roundabout and the Scranton Road Beautification Project.
